To Uplift and Educate the Less Privileged Nigerian Child
Bringing Hope, Providing Care and Changing
Lives — One Child a Time.
Who We Are
The Children Arise Foundation (“CAF”) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to the general welfare, upliftment and development of vulnerable and under privileged children and young people who live and work on the streets, through education and skills empowerment.
CAF was started by a group of 11 like-minded old school classmates in late 2018 and was formally incorporated in 2020. However, it is pertinent to mention that the scope of CAF’s objectives and activities under our constitution extends to Nigerian children all over the country who may be in need of support as set out in our eligibility criteria.
Currently, around 15 children and young people have benefited directly from our activities and we would like to increase the number of our beneficiaries with your help. We started by working collaboratively with partners and while most of our beneficiaries are in Lagos, Nigeria, we have been able to provide funding assistance to other needy children in Delta State, Nigeria.
As part of our efforts to deepen our knowledge of the problems affecting the children we seek to support and to begin to make meaningful in-roads into their lives, we work collaboratively with partners who have proven track records in this area. To mention a few, we have collaborated with other charitable organisations, such as the Christ Liberty School whose proprietors are Pastor & Pastor Mrs Kuboye. The Kuboye’s have done spectacularly well in that they have for many years worked to get children off the streets.
The Kuboye’s and their Christ Liberty Church and School have assisted us immensely in appreciating the severe underlying problems that send our children into the streets. We are proud of the work they have done and the work we have done together in the past 3 years.
We are very open to working with other collaborators in this effort.
Our Approach
Our Activities So Far:
After coming together as a loose group of old class mates and friends, sometime in 2018, we thought to take some concrete steps to kick-off our efforts.
We chose what seemed to be the low hanging fruit — Children on the streets and it was the month of December for which we organized a Christmas party. We thought to have a Christmas party for the street children in the Lekki Expressway axis of Lagos, Nigeria.
The party was planned with the support of the local community leaders in the area and it was fun filled. This apparently was our first outing and we have kept contact with a couple of the street children who attended the party and they have remained among our beneficiaries.
We have also assisted an indigent family in Delta State, Nigeria in 2019 and provided palliatives in 2020 (during the peak of the Pandemic) to some people in need.
Very recently were able to provide a 10 year old girl in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria who as a result of some sort of paralysis had been walking on her knees all her life, with wheel chair assistance.
We have a Thrift Shop which was established for the sale of items including clothing, footwear, fashion, jewellery, household goods and provisions (such as tin foods and dry food items). Proceeds from the Thrift Shop are utilized to fund CAF’s goals and objectives.
We want to do more and we know that with your help we will make some strides.
